Ii. Functional Nirs as an Evaluation Tool for Balance and Posture
نویسنده
چکیده
Postural control requires complex visuo-sensorimotor coordination, and previous studies have revealed that the cortical contribution is very important in the maintenance of bipedal posture in humans. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) could enable us to measure cortical activation during dynamic movements, including balance and postural tasks, and could provide novel insight into the underlying neural mechanisms for postural control in humans. In this minisymposium, we present the application of functional NIRS in studies investigating cortical mechanisms for balance and postural control in humans, and discuss the potential application of functional NIRS for enhancing functional recovery.

This research was conducted to examin the effects of adding forward running and backward running training in a wobble board training program on some of functional static balance tests. In this research sixty-five young healthy males (13-17years) were selected by nonprobability sampling and assigned randomly into three groups. Group I included 25 subjects that performed 10 minutes forward ru...

متن کاملReceding Horizon Based Control of Disturbed Upright Balance with Consideration of Foot Tilting(RESEARCH NOTE)
In some situations, when an external disturbance occurs, humans can rock stably backward and forward by lifting the toe or the heel to keep the upright balance without stepping. Many control schemes have been proposed for standing balance control under external disturbances without stepping. But, in most of them researchers have only considered a flat foot phase. In this paper a framework is pr...
متن کاملNear-Infrared Spectroscopy and Motor Lateralization after Stroke: A Case Series Study
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), which allows non-invasive monitoring of cerebral activation, might be a useful tool to assess brain activity in stroke patients because it allows recording without imposing restraints on the subject’s posture. Previous NIRS studies on stroke patients have focused on brain activation in patients with mild impairment or full recovery, and there has been a lack o...
